Temecula Crash Sends 2 To Hospital, On-Duty Officer Involved

TEMECULA, CA — A California Highway Patrol officer and another vehicle collided Sunday in Temecula, injuring both the officer and driver of a Toyota Prius, sending both to Inland Valley Medical Center for treatment, according to the CHP Temecula Area office.

Shortly after 8:15 p.m., an officer from the California Highway Patrol Temecula Area office was driving a marked black and white Ford Explorer patrol vehicle eastbound on Temecula Parkway in the far left lane, approaching the intersection of La Paz Road at approximately 50 miles per hour.

Meanwhile, a 66-year-old Temecula man was driving a 2014 Toyota Prius and stopped in the westbound Temecula Parkway left-turn lane to La Paz Road.

The driver of the Toyota made a left turn onto La Paz Road at approximately 10 miles per hour when the collision occurred in the intersection," Officer Brian Seel told Patch.

The driver of the Toyota was transported by ground ambulance to Inland Valley Regional Medical Center with minor injuries and was later released. The right front passenger of the Toyota, a 52-year-old Menifee man, did not suffer any injuries as a result of the crash.

The CHP officer driving the patrol vehicle was taken by ambulance to Inland Valley Regional
The patient was treated at the medical center for minor injuries and was later released.

The traffic collision is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol, Temecula Area and
is being assisted by the California Highway Patrol Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation
Team (MAIT).
