What makes your dad extra special?
My Dad is 95 years old. He is a WW2 vet. He loves horses and still likes to go out dancing. He grew up on a farm during the Great Depression, and was the youngest of 9 kids. He loves good food , he plays the harmonica and he likes to watch westerns. He is very friendly and loves to text on his iPhone to his kids and grandkids. He loves going to Pechanga, the local casino. He recently lost my mom, and my brother, his only son, to cancer and my sister to lung cancer within three years. He really misses my mom and loves to look at old pictures and reminisce. He is a very cheerful person, even in difficult times. He has been always willing to help anyone who needs it as long as I’ve known him.
Why do you feel your dad deserves the spotlight?
He is 95 , and still texts me to say “Hi,” or “What’s new?”
Happy Father’s Day to Alvin Gettman, and thank you for all you do!
