Temecula Kidnapping, Rape Investigation: Suspect Freed On Bond

Riverside County Sheriff's Department investigating a rape and kidnapping descended on an Oak Cliff Drive home over the weekend.

TEMECULA, CA — A 36-year-old Temecula man was arrested late Saturday on suspicion of rape, kidnapping and false imprisonment, Riverside County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Wenndy Brito-Gonzalez confirmed.

Marc Alvarez was arrested Saturday shortly before midnight at a home on Oak Cliff Drive, according to jail records. He was held at the Southwest Detention Center and freed on a $55,000 bond Sunday. He was slated to appear in court to answer charges on Feb. 19 at 7:30 a.m. at the Murrieta Southwest Justice Center.

Meanwhile, officers are seeking additional witnesses and/or other victims. Those with information should call 951-776-1099 or 800-950-2444, Gonzalez said.

"On Friday, deputies responded to the 39000 block of Oak Cliff Drive in Temecula for a report of a rape," Gonzalez told Patch. "During the investigation, the suspect was identified as 36-year-old Marc Alvarez.

At 11:58 p.m. Saturday, deputies served a search warrant on Oak Cliff Drive, where they located Alvarez, and took him into custody, she said. "He was booked in for rape, false imprisonment, and kidnapping."

According to Gonzalez, the suspect is not a registered sex offender, and there is no relation to the "teenage vigilante sex sting" from November.
