The city of Temecula will be receiving a $50 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to improve the Interstate 15 freeway.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA -- The city of Temecula will receive a $50 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to improve the Interstate 15 freeway and the French Valley Parkway interchange Congressman Ken Calvert said Monday, July 22.

“Today’s announced award to Temecula will provide desperately needed resources for a critical congestion relief project along the Interstate 15 corridor in Temecula Valley,” Rep. Calvert (CA-42) said in a statement. “The people who commute on the 15 and 215 experience the traffic throughout the Temecula corridor every day and are looking for solutions like this project to become a reality.”

Rep. Calvert sent a letter to Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao in February supporting Temecula’s grant application to the Infrastructure for Rebuilding America (INFRA) grant program. The application specifically requested $50 million for Interstate 15/French Valley Parkway – Phase II to correct a bottleneck point on Interstate 15 near the 215 Junction.
