Temecula Trolley Returns With Expanded Service

RTA announced a slate of route additions and changes, including the trolley's return.

TEMECULA, CA — The Route 55 Temecula Trolley will return on Aug. 15, the Riverside Transit Agency announced Tuesday, along with expansions in bus service for Old Town Temecula, Mt. San Jacinto College’s Temecula campus, the Promenade Mall and other areas around Temecula.

The trolley had been sidelined due to the pandemic, RTA said, but returns to serve Harveston, Promenade Mall and Chaparral High School.

RTA has made adjustments for improved efficiency, expanded connections and on-time performance for 36 routes, including several that serve Temecula.

“We’ve made a spectrum of improvements that reflect our commitment to meet the changing needs of our valued customers and get our region moving again,” said RTA Chair Linda Krupa.

Destinations on the new trips include Vista Murrieta High School, Murrieta Valley High School, Inland Valley Medical Center, Promenade Mall, Old Town Temecula, the Perris Station Transit Center and the new Mt. San Jacinto College Temecula campus that will start its first semester on Aug. 16.

RTA will add 149 bus trips overall across the county, with expanded service on 10 routes, increased frequency on nine routes and increased hours of operation on 10 routes. RTA will also resume separate weekday and weekend schedules for most routes.

Those under 18 and college students at Temecula’s Mt. San Jacinto College, as well as other participating schools, will continue to receive free rides through July 2022.
