Temecula Wine Country Restaurant Closes, Tasting Room Relocates: What To Know
Carol's Restaurant, a longtime favorite for Temecula Valley Wine Country, has closed as the Baily Family Winery plans its next move.

TEMECULA, CA — Carol's Restaurant, located inside the former Baily Winery on Rancho California Road, has closed its doors after 25 years of operation. The restaurant closed after its "final lunch" on Sept. 21. The winery and tasting room, also at the Rancho California location, will pour its final glass on Sept. 30, as the Rancho California location has been sold.
They will relocate Oct. 1 to the estate tasting room and production facility located at 36150 Pauba Road.
Rumors of the Baily's retirement were greatly exaggerated, according to Phil Baily. The winery is changing its name to Baily Family Vineyards, incorporating more family into its process. It will offer tastings from its original facility on Pauba Road, to coincide with its 40th harvest.

“We are making enhancements to our facility on Pauba to showcase the winemaking operations, the beautiful view, and to elevate the tasting experience for our visitors," Phil Baily told Visit Temecula Valley. "Our entire tasting room staff will be moving to Pauba so that they can continue to serve our customers in the same exceptional manner. The tasting room on La Serena will be open until September 30, with tasting operations at Pauba commencing on October 1."
As owners of Temecula’s oldest winery, the next generation of winemakers is joining the group.

"We are excited to be working with our sons and grandson to enter this next phase of the long history of the winery," he said. "And to better reflect the family involvement, we are changing our name from Baily Vineyard & Winery to Baily Family Vineyards."
Carol Baily, for whom the restaurant is named, discussed that change.
"We’ve had 25 great years serving you at Carol’s Restaurant, and we will miss all the friends we’ve made," she said. "We’ve helped you celebrate your anniversaries, first dates, weddings, receptions, memorials, and hundreds of holidays, and we’ve loved your dogs almost as much as you love them. It’s going to be hard to lose the place we’ve built from the ground up, but we’re looking forward to the next chapter in our lives."
This move for the Baily family coincides with the family's 40th harvest in Temecula Valley Wine Country.
"The renovated location on Pauba will provide visitors a front row seat to the winemaking process and the chance to mingle with members of the Baily family while tasting fantastic wines and taking in one of Wine Country’s best views," Phil Baily said.
From four generations of the Baily Family: Carol and Phil; Patrick; Chris and Kim; Alex and July, and one-year-old baby, Christopher; Hayley and Brian; Nolan and Rachel, and one-year-old baby, Cedar.
