RivCo Woman Killed By Suspect Shot By Police On Balboa Pier

She was found shot to death over the weekend in Menifee; her purported killer evaded arrest, fleeing to this Orange County pier.

MENIFEE, CA — A Temecula woman was identified as the victim of a man who fled a police pursuit that ended in his fatal shooting at the Newport Beach Balboa Pier, officials say.

Storm Wolf, 38, of Temecula, was found shot to death early Saturday in a Menifee home on the 25000 block of Mesa Edge Court, according to the Menifee Police Department.

Her suspected killer, Jose Velasquez, 45, of Menifee, was shot and killed by authorities after a lengthy police pursuit from Riverside to Orange County.

Just before 2:45 a.m., officers arrived at the home to find the woman's body. They quickly identified a Menifee man as the prime suspect in her death, according to a department statement.

Velasquez, believed to be an acquaintance of Wolf, fled the scene before officers arrived, according to the Menifee Police Department.

"Following investigative leads, authorities determined that he may have traveled to Santa Ana," the investigation report stated. "The Santa Ana Police Department was contacted for assistance in locating Velasquez's vehicle."

Officers were able to locate him, and he was further pursued through Newport Beach to the Balboa Pier, where he was ultimately shot and killed by officers, dying at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing as Menifee Police seek a motive for the man responsible for Wolf's death.
