TEMECULA, CA — Fourth Street Antiques in Old Town Temecula will remain open, with a new owner and current antique vendors, Patch has learned.

Two weeks ago, the news for the Fourth Street Antiques mall was dire. Patch spoke with the owners, who stated that Fourth Street Antiques, located at 41975 4th St., would be closing on August 31. Now, the more than 30 existing independent antiques dealers have been spared from being forced out by a new owner who is embracing their business, Fourth Street Antiques manager Linda Conceicao told Patch on Friday.

"Coming on September 1, Old Tyme Photos & Boulevard Emporium Boutique will be taking over the lease," they announced. "A new venture and the location for them, and keeping a little bit of Old Town History alive and well."

Temecula Mayor Brenden Kalfus also spoke on the news over social media.

"I'm thrilled that Fourth Street Antiques will be staying open in Old Town," he wrote. "I love small businesses and I love the history of Old Town."

Linda Conceicao, the current manager of the Fourth Street Antiques mall, spoke with Patch to verify the news. She oversees sales for the more than 30 dealers inside, all of whom will be able to maintain their storefronts.

"It's a great group of people who curate fantastic antiques for shoppers," she said. "We're so glad the store will remain open.

The new business owner was described as a western-themed photo studio. Little information beyond that was shared, but as of August 1, Conceicao and the shopkeepers will continue to sell antiques as usual.

The still-closing Old Town Antique Faire has been in business for 35 years.

The building still has the Old Town Temecula western vibe, with its dark wood exterior and plank porch. The stairs leading up to the entrance feature a medallion in memory of Robert "Bob" Morris, also known as Mr. Old Town Temecula, who passed away in 2018 at the age of 85.

Meanwhile, it was not yet known what would replace the longstanding Old Town Antique Faire. That property is owned by Los Angeles-based Zip Third Investments, LLC.

The Old Town Antique Faire dealers were in negotiations with the owner to extend the mall's lease, and an increased price was agreed upon, but before the paperwork could be drawn up. According sellers, the landlord told tenants they decided to pursue a "different direction."
