TEMECULA, CA — The Swing Inc. Indoor Golf Club, Temecula's new indoor virtual golf experience, welcomes golfers to test their swing at famous courses nationwide on their state-of-the-art golf simulators. It's a blend of advanced tech and live-action fun to get you into the game and improve your swing while you play.

The club is a boutique facility located at 27576 Commerce Center Dr., Ste. 101, in Jefferson Court, Temecula, open by appointment only.

Local business owner Joseph Bortfeld, along with his family, has joined the growing fever of golf simulator businesses across the globe. As indoor leagues develop, with golfers like Tiger Woods and Rory Mcllroy joining in, he hopes to grow the business in future years. For now, he invites all golfers to get into the game.

“Once people see and experience simulator golf, they get hooked. They can’t wait to return,” he said.

It may seem like you're stepping into a larger-than-life video game, but golfers can learn more about their game during a thirty-minute hitting or putting session at these golf simulators than by just dropping by the range to hit a bucket of balls, according to Bortfeld.

When you step inside the temperature-controlled facility, you’ll see four bays with enormous screens and a separate driving range area, all available at a low hourly rate. (Book your tee time online).

Each separate bay is equipped with well-padded turf tees where you can take your shots from a realistic-feeling platform. The simulator spells out how well you did, as well as identifies different areas you can tighten up your swing as the PGA will be broadcast from the Los Angeles Country Club this week, which Bortfeld called up for the next golf simulator session to show us how it was done.

The golf played here isn't for the novice, but instead, for those playing at levels intermediate and above who wish to improve their game while having fun, he said.

The bays are a distinct blend of real-life golf and a video game, allowing you to play in an array of different locations. When you go, every visit is unique.

“Here, you can come alone or with friends and not be rushed by people behind you. You won’t be affected by darkness, rain, wind, or cold,” he said. “It’s just you and wherever you want to play that day.” There is plenty of seating and room for banter while waiting your turn.

We watched Bortfeld’s son, Brando—a golfer at Mount San Jacinto College—take a swing first at the indoor driving range and then on one of the course simulations. A swing left the ball just inches from the hole in what would be a “birdie on the next putt.”

When you play, you’ll hear the subtle punch of the golf ball as it strikes the screen, and even bird calls, the rushing water of falls or ocean waves, or the roar of the crowd, depending on your chosen course. Though no food or drink is sold here, you can bring it along or order delivery during your stay. They had clubs to borrow, even a set of left-handed women’s clubs.

Patch took a swing, albeit not a great one, to get the feel of the realistic turf. Then, in a video-game-esque style, the simulator shows where your shot lands, how accurate you were, how fast your swing was, and what sort of spin you achieved.

Plus, golfers of all ages can return to the links and play those rarified greens at Augusta or Pebble Beach, making a gift card an excellent buy for a family member who otherwise left their clubs to gather dust.

During our visit, golfing at the Swing Golf Club felt exclusive, relaxing, and even addictive as we planned our next trip.

“It’s also a great activity for families who just want to get out of the house and do something fun for a few hours,” he said. “We’d love to invite you down and see what we have here, something unique in town, good for the serious golfer, the intermediate golfer, and those progressing in their game.”

Follow their Instagram page to see if there’s a last-minute tee time available. You can purchase gift cards online, he said, for anyone who loves to golf, especially dads.
