Wildfire Reported In Wildlife Area In Anza

ANZA, CA — No injuries were reported after a wildfire burned just under two acres near the southern edge of the San Bernardino National Forest in Anza.

The non-injury blaze was reported about 11:10 a.m. in the area of Bohlen Road and Stella Lane, just north of Highway 371 and the Cahuilla Indian Reservation, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Two Cal Fire air tankers and a water-dropping helicopter were sent to the location and encountered flames moving at a moderate rate to the northeast.The tankers made several runs on the brusher, and the forward rate of spread was stopped about 11:30 a.m. The flames approached the national forest but did not burn into the federal preserve.

Multiple engine crews established tentative containment lines and were expected to have the brusher fully extinguished before 1 p.m.

No homes or other structures were damaged. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
