WINCHESTER, CA — A debris fire near a Winchester mobile home, which destroyed an outbuilding and burned surrounding streets on Thursday, sparked road closures in the area, firefighters say.

Just after 2:30, the blaze was reported in the area of Patterson Avenue and Simpson Road, according to the Cal Fire/ Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said that multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames extending into the outbuilding and threatening the adjacent doublewide mobile home.

Flaming embers from the blaze fell across the nearby streets, and California Highway Patrol officers were summoned to shut down Patterson Avenue at Simpson Road, as well as the intersection of Patterson and Ninth Street to the north of the fire, for public safety.
