Deputies say shots were later fired toward patrol units, sparking a chase and high bails, with a settlement conference set for February in Indio.

• Two arrested on suspicion of stealing horse in Thermal (kesq.com) — A valuable thoroughbred mare worth about $80,000 was reported stolen from a ranch in Thermal, and two Temecula residents have been arrested on suspicion of grand theft and conspiracy. Deputies are still working to recover the horse, and anyone with information is urged to contact investigators.
