DA: Oakland man convicted of ID theft in Mendocino County (ukiahdailyjournal.com) — Ukiah police and county prosecutors shut down what they describe as a sophisticated identity-theft setup operating out of a local hotel room, leading to a 48‑month prison sentence for an Oakland man. The case began when an out-of-town victim got a fraud alert showing his credit card used in Ukiah. Authorities say the suspect had equipment and stolen data to potentially victimize dozens more people.

2. MCSO: Burglars arrested after breaking into Ukiah market (ukiahdailyjournal.com) — Burglars recently hit Forks Ranch Market on North State Street in Ukiah, but deputies quickly linked the crime to a suspect vehicle in Lake County and recovered much of the stolen property. Four men from Kelseyville and Sacramento were arrested on suspicion of burglary and conspiracy, and investigators say the same group may be tied to another Ukiah break-in.

North Bay athletes of the week: top performers in winter sports (fresnobee.com) — Ukiah High athletes are making noise in North Bay winter sports, with soccer standouts Allie Huff and Rios Munoz leading Wildcats teams on impressive early-season winning streaks. Their multi-goal performances against regional opponents helped both the girls and boys squads rebound strongly and position Ukiah as a program to watch this season.

Laytonville gets new medication disposal drop box • The Mendocino Voice (mendovoice.com) — Ukiah residents now have a convenient way to safely discard unwanted medications at the Safeway pharmacy drop box in town, alongside new and existing sites across Mendocino County. The program aims to protect local water and wildlife by keeping drugs out of toilets and trash, and also offers free mail-back options for sharps and needles.
