'Armed And Dangerous' Suspect Shot Alameda Co. Sheriff's Deputy: UCPD

An Alameda County Sheriff's Deputy was shot and critically wounded in the line of duty in Union City Wednesday afternoon, according to the Union City Police Department. The deputy was transported to a local trauma center, police said in a statement.
Late Wednesday night, police still had a perimeter around the area where the shooting happened, as police said that the suspect had not been arrested, and was believed to still be in the area and considered armed and dangerous.

At 4:23 a.m. Thursday, UCPD released a statement via Nixle saying that the situation had been resolved and police had left the area of the shooting. "There is no known danger to the public," according to the statement. Investigator continue to probe the shooting. UCPD will release additional information at noon. Earlier, an update was expected at 8 a.m.
The shooting happened around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in 33000 block of Dowe Avenue, near Alvarado Niles Road, police said. Sheriff’s deputies were serving an eviction notice when the suspect opened fire.
Police from multiple agencies swarmed the area. Surrounding streets were closed because of the investigation and people were asked to avoid the area.
CBS-SF reported earlier that one man had been taken into custody but his connection to the case has not been disclosed.
