Army Veteran Receives Home Through Military Foundation

Joseph Pratt-Majesky, who grew up in Union City, got a new home in Modesto through the Military Warriors Support Foundation.

When army veteran Joseph Pratt-Majesky, 23, applied online for a mortgage-free home in Modesto through the Military Warriors Support Foundation, he didn't think he'd actually get it.

"It's like winning the lottery," Pratt-Majesky told the Modesto Bee.

According to the Central Valley newspaper, Pratt-Majesky — who grew up in Union City and was a former Union City Police Explorer — received the keys to his new home on Feb. 17.

He was awarded the home through the military foundation’s Homes 4 Wounded Heroes program, which gives homes to military servicemen who were wounded in battle.

Pratt-Majesky served in the army from 2005 to 2011 and fought in Iraq and Afghanistan, according to the Modesto Bee. He suffered brain and knee injuries and now experiences post-traumatic stress disorder.
