Car Crashes into Home

A Toyota sedan that may have lost control drove into a home on Clover Street. No one was home at the time.

A Toyota sedean crashed into a home on Clover Street Friday afternoon, police said.

The driver may have lost control of his vehicle. According to Sgt. Steve Mendez, there are no signs intoxication or speeding. The only tire marks were those on the curbside before the car was launched into the home, he said.

"The car literally was in the house, all four wheels," Mendez said.

No residents were home at the time of the accident, which occurred around 1:50 p.m.

“It was very lucky that no one was home," Mendez said. "Had they been in the living room, there may have been serious injuries."

The driver suffered minor injuries as a result of the vehicle's airbag and is currently being treated, Mendez said.

Union City police officers helped remove the vehicle and ensured the home was inhabitable, Mendez said. Contractors are currently repairing the home.
