Firefighters Save Trapped Dog

The dog was chasing a possum when he got trapped under a concrete slab.

UNION CITY, CA — Over the past month, the Alameda County Fire Department has been dispatched to fight fires, help victims injured in crashes, and they've been deployed to fight wildfires in other parts of the state.

For one Union City woman, the most important call was to rescue her dog.

In late August, the dog chased a possum and ended up trapped beneath a concrete slab.

Rescue 24 firefighters used cameras to confirm that the dog would not be hurt if the concret was broken to free him.

He was awfully pleased to be back in safe arms.
