- Why Go: The Newark Library will have a sale on specialty books, textbooks, cook books, military books and WWII books, along with CDs and DVDs. All proceeds will go to the Newark Library League, which funds all library events.

- Where/When: Vic Hubbard Auto Supply, 411 W A St., Hayward; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Why Go: The event will feature free food, music, raffle prizes and a variety of muscle cars on display. All that is asked is that attendees bring a new toy or canned food to help give back to the less fortunate.

- Why Go: Explore the joys of reading with your child at this event hosted by the James Logan High School's Interact Club.

- Why Go: Award-winning master chocolatier Oscar Baile will demonstrate how to make truffles. Registered participants will get to taste the truffles for free.

- Why Go: Enjoy an evening of holiday music courtesy of the Tri-City Areas’ 40-musician symphony, the Newark Symphonic Winds. The night will include a performance by the Montecito Brass Quintet, a reading of “‘'Twas the Night Before Christmas” and a community sing-along. Santa and Mrs. Claus will also be there.
