Hernandez Martial Arts Provides Free Classes for Local Youth
Spaces are still available for free, twice a week courses at Hernandez Martial Arts

From Hernandez Martial Arts:
Hernandez Martial Arts (HMA), the longest running martial arts studio in Union City is taking action this January as it’s National Self-Defense Awareness Month. HMA announced Monday that they will be hosting 30-day Kids Self-Defense courses during the month of January absolutely free.
HMA is committed not only to helping develop well rounded, successful children at home and in school, but to also help fight the growing problem of child abductions, bullying and violence in school while showing kids and adults that there’s a fun, alternative way to stay safe, healthy and fit, be alert and learn how to conduct themselves in threatening situations; and it doesn’t always involve punching, kicking or fighting.

“Self-Defense isn’t just defending ourselves from the bad guys, it’s also about defending ourselves from all that can threaten our well being such as our bad attitudes, the food we put in our bodies, negativity from ourselves and others, the negative thoughts that roam through our heads, bad grades, sickness, disease, unhealthy friendships and injury to name a few,” says Bobby Hernandez, co-owner with his father Bob Hernandez. “This, coupled with the ability to defend ourselves from the bad guy, is the ultimate Self-Defense and the best part about it, kids have fun and learn a lot because our program is geared for kids!”
Not only will kids learn Self-Defense strategies, but each student will leave this Free, 30 Day Self-Defense Program with a newly acquired set of Character Traits and Values to lead a much happier and successful lifestyle. Students of Hernandez Martial Arts also improve their Attitudes, Self-Discipline, Confidence, Respect and Self-Esteem, giving them a better outlook on life, while increasing their grades in school and better behavior at home.

“What we really want to teach kids is to be aware of their surroundings and show them how to protect themselves in order to get away from potentially dangerous situations,” states Bobby Hernandez. “Our program is a great way for kids to learn the basics of Self-Defense which includes Awareness and Avoidance. We teach our students to “think” before they act.”
By teaching children how to protect themselves from all that can threaten their well being, Hernandez Martial Arts hopes to help decrease the number of abductions, bullying situations and violent incidents in our community while helping to decrease childhood obesity, childhood diseases and conditions such as ADHD and Anxiety in children.
Enrollment for this Free, 30 Day Self-Defense Course is now under way and will end on January 31st or when spaces are full.
Parents interested in having their child participate in the free, twice a week, 30-Day Self-Defense Course can call 510-487-3790 to register or ask for additional information.
