Injuries in Sunday's Hayward Crash That Killed Union City Teen, Other Driver Determined Sober
The fatal collision occurred early Sunday morning.

HAYWARD, CA — California Highway Patrol officers released more information about the collision that killed 17-year-old Izaiah Mease early Sunday morning.
Izaiah, a Union City resident, was driving two 17-year-old passengers in a 2004 Honda Accord, CHP said.
Izaiah was driving south in lane six on Interstate Highway 880 in Hayward near the West A Street on-ramp.
A 23-year-old Gilroy woman was driving a 2015 Dodge Ram pickup with two male passengers, age 24 and 3, in lane two.

The Ram was moving at approximately 65 miles per hour, about two or three car lengths behind Izaiah's car. Izaiah abruptly turned the Accord to the left, toward the center median, crossing directly in front of the Ram.
The Ram collided with the left side of the Accord in lane two. Both cars veered onto the paved center median after colliding with the cement K-rail.

Drivers stopped at the scene to provide assistance, including CPR, to Izaiah, who succumbed to blunt force trauma injuries. Izaiah was pronounced dead by emergency medical staff from the Alameda County Fire Department.
Izaiah's two passengers suffered moderate to major injuries and were transported to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley. The occupants of the Ram were also injured, and were transported by ambulance to Eden Medical Center.
The driver of the Ram was confirmed to be sober. It has not been determined whether Izaiah was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
