Update: One Wounded, Three Arrested in Memorial Day Shooting

The shooting occurred in the townhomes on the 4400 block of Corto Monterey off of Castille Court near Union City Boulevard.

A 21-year-old Union City man was hospitalized and three suspects were arrested after a shooting Monday afternoon in the townhomes on the 4400 block of Corto Monterey off of Castille Court, police said.

The victim's injuries were not life-threatening and he was released Monday evening, police said.

According to Cmdr. Kelly Musgrove, the shooting occurred at about 12:51 p.m. when an argument between at least three individuals escalated into a physical confrontation.

One of the suspects pulled out a gun and shot the victim before the assailant and a second suspect fled on foot in opposite directions, Musgrove said.

One of the suspects, identified as 23-year-old Union City resident Jabri Thibeaux, was captured shortly after during a brief foot pursuit, according to Musgrove.

Jabri Thibeaux was arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide, conspiracy and resisting arrest and is being held at the Fremont Jail, according to police.

Shortly after Jabri Thibeaux was detained, authorities went to a nearby home to follow up on the shooting where a second suspect tried to escape through the back of the home and began jumping fences in the neighborhood.

The second suspect, a 17-year-old juvenile, was captured while trying to flee the police perimeter. He was arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide and conspiracy and was transported to juvenile hall.

A third suspect was also arrested in connection to the shooting.

Malysa Thibeaux, 18, was arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide, conspiracy and resisting arrest.
