A car drove into a house on Clover Street, causing injuries to the driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle. Alameda County Fire and AMR ambulance responded to treat the driver for his injuries and transported him to a local hospital for additional treatment. Based on witness statements and evidence at the scene, it appears the driver was driving at a high speed and was unable to negotiate the turn, causing the vehicle to travel up over the sidewalk, over the front lawn, and into the home, police said. The home was empty at the time of the collision.

Robbery and assault:

A victim was rushed by two people while opening the garage door of his home on Jean Drive, according to the report. The suspects, one armed with a handgun, beat the victim and demanded money. The victim’s uncle heard a commotion in the garage and saw the suspects beating his nephew, at which point the suspects fled on foot. The victim sustained minor injuries. The investigations unit is actively following up on evidence recovered at the scene.

Crowne Plaza robbery:

Officers responded to a reported robbery at Crowne Plaza Hotel on Saturday night. The night clerk reported a suspect pointed a handgun at him and demanded money. The clerk told officers he didn’t believe the gun was real and that he told the suspect, if it was a real gun, to fire a round into the air (which is “not the smartest thing to do,” the report said).  The suspect then left and robbed the clerk of the gift shop by pointing the gun at her and grabbing money from her hands.

Bus stop hit-and-run:

Later that night, officers responded to a solo-vehicle accident into a bus stop and a light pole on Union City Boulevard near Alvarado Boulevard. Officers found a heavily damaged vehicle abandoned at the scene. Officers contacted the registered owner and learned that their son had been driving the vehicle. Officers tracked him down to a home in Hayward and found that he was intoxicated, the report said. The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol and hit-and-run.
