Police Log: Drug Transaction; Juvenile Burglars; Donuts, Pot

Juveniles enter a vacant house to prepare for a house party, and more incidents from July 24 to July 31.

The following is a summary of significant crime and incidents reported in Union City between July 24 and 31 as released by the Union City Police Department

Wednesday, July 24. 

  • Community Oriented Policing and Problems Solving Unit officers witnessed what appeared to be a drug transaction between two males in front of a residence on 10th street. Officers discovered multiple bags of methamphetamine and cocaine. A follow-up search was conducted at the suspect’s residence and officers found a 9mm semiautomatic firearm along with high capacity magazines. Two males were arrested during this investigation.

Friday, July 26.

  • Officers responded to an in-progress residential burglary at an address on Delores Drive. Neighbors reported that a large number of juveniles had entered a vacant home. Officers surrounded the residence and removed around 20 juveniles. The juveniles were preparing the vacant location for a large house party. Officers documented the incident and had the juveniles picked up by parents or guardians.

Saturday, July 27. 

  • Residents reported a vehicle doing “donuts” and driving reckless in the 11th Street area. A police sergeant was driving through the area and spotted the vehicle. The sergeant smelled marijuana as he contacted the driver. A search of the vehicle revealed approximately three pounds of marijuana was in the vehicle. The driver was arrested and transported to a local jail.

Monday, July 29. 

  • An officer saw a suspect enter a laundry room at 34818 Starling Drive. The officer recognized the male as the suspect wanted in connection with an armed robbery in San Leandro. Officers took the suspect into custody as he exited the laundry room. A follow-up search was conducted at the suspect’s residence, and a .22 caliber pistol was recovered.
