Drunk driver arrested after nearly hitting another vehicle

On Saturday night, an officer on routine patrol in the area of Dyer Street and Santa Susanna Way saw a vehicle driving on Dyer Street in front of him almost sideswipe another vehicle in the next lane, the report said. The officer made an enforcement stop and, upon making contact, noticed the smell of alcohol in the vehicle. After a series of sobriety tests, the suspect was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Man arrested after punching girlfriend
On Sunday night, officers were sent to investigate a domestic disturbance at a home on Chimney Court. According to the report, the female victim called 9-1-1 and a man’s voice was heard yelling in the background. The suspect had fled the home prior to officers’ arrival. Through the investigation, officers learned that the victim and her boyfriend were engaged in a verbal argument that escalated when he began to punch her. The boyfriend returned while police were still at the home and he was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery.

Two arrested after Elizabeth Way burglary, police chase
Officers responded to an in-progress burglary around 12:30 p.m. at a home on the 3200 block of Elizabeth Way. The homeowner returned home and saw two male suspects burglarizing the home, according to the report. The suspects then fled in a black Acura.
A responding officer saw the car on Dyer Street and gave chase. During the short pursuit, the suspects drove onto I-880 northbound and exited Tennyson Road, where the driver began to drive recklessly, according to the report. The officer called off the chase for public safety.
Two undercover detectives were sent to the area and found the car abandoned in an auto parts store parking lot on Industrial Parkway. They located the suspects nearby and arrested them at gunpoint. According to the report, stolen property from the burglary was found inside the abandoned Acura.
