Police Log: Woman Chases After Robber With His Pellet Gun

Recent police reports also include four individuals being arrested on gun possession charges, two arrested for throwing rocks at cars and multiple drug and DUI arrests.

Thursday, March 22

Driver runs red light, gets busted with meth

Two officers were working special enforcement in the area of Industrial Parkway near Whipple Road when they saw a vehicle run a red traffic control light. The officers made an enforcement stop and found the driver to be on searchable probation. The officers found 2.8 grams of methamphetamine hidden under the front driver’s seat. The subject was arrested on suspicion of possession and transportation of methamphetamine.

Domestic battery suspect arrested after fleeing to Shell station

Officers responded to an apartment at 33105 Mission Blvd. to investigate a domestic disturbance. Arriving officers found the female victim had been battered. Additional officers located the suspect at the nearby Shell gas station on Mission Boulevard and Whipple Road. Through the course of the investigation, officers determined that the suspect had struck his girlfriend during a heated argument. The male suspect was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery.

Multiple DUI arrests

Later this night, an officer on routine patrol spotted a vehicle driving erratically on Mission Boulevard and E Street. The officer made an enforcement stop and contacted the driver. The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol after failing a series of field sobriety tests.

Additionally, an officer on routine patrol near Decoto Road saw a vehicle weaving in and out of traffic lanes near Paso Padre Parkway. The officer made an enforcement stop and arrested the driver on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol after failing a series of field sobriety tests.

Also this night, an officer on patrol saw another vehicle weaving between lanes in the area of Alvarado-Niles Road and Sherman Drive. The officer made an enforcement stop and arrested the driver on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol after failing a series of field sobriety tests.

Thursday, March 29

Probationer arrested for meth possession

An officer on routine patrol in the area of the 4500 block of Beacon Way saw a subject he recognized to be on searchable probation. The officer contacted the subject and found that he had 3.4 grams of methamphetamine in his pants pocket. The officer arrested the subject on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and transported him to jail without incident.

Drunk driver arrested on Kimberly Court

Later this night, an officer on routine patrol in the area of Kimberley Court and Fredi Street observed a vehicle drive up onto a curb, as the driver was letting his passengers out. The officer made an enforcement stop and found the subject to be intoxicated. After a series of field sobriety tests, the officer arrested the driver on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Saturday, March 31

Man uses fake gun in Paddy’s parking lot robbery

On Saturday night, officers responded to located at 3900 Smith St. to investigate a just-occurred armed robbery. The victim had just completed studying inside the coffee shop and was walking to her vehicle parked in the parking lot when a suspect approached the victim and demanded her backpack at gunpoint.

A brief struggle ensued while the suspect grabbed the victim’s backpack. This caused the suspect to drop the handgun and run away with the victim’s backpack.

The victim picked up the handgun and chased after the suspect toward Vallejo Street. The suspect lost sight of the victim and then realized that the handgun was actually a replica handgun that shot pellets.

The suspect was described as a white male adult in his 20s, about 5’8” tall, last seen wearing a white hooded sweatshirt.

Four arrested on gun possession charges

Later this same night, an officer on routine patrol in the area of Industrial Parkway and Whipple Road made an enforcement stop of a vehicle for expired vehicle registration.

One of the passengers suddenly bolted from the vehicle and fled the area. The officer held the three remaining occupants in the vehicle at gun point until additional officers arrived to detain them safely and sort out why the single subject fled. All the occupants were uncooperative and refused to answer any questions.

While searching the vehicle, a loaded handgun was located hidden under the front seat.

Through the course of the investigation the fourth subject was identified. The three subjects in the vehicle were arrested on suspicion of possession of a loaded and concealed firearm. Two of the subjects were also arrested on suspicion of being felons in possession of a firearm. The report was also sent to the District Attorney’s office for review of charges for the subject who fled.

Sunday, April 1

Bad driver arrested for possession of meth

On Sunday night, an officer was sent to investigate a possible drunk driver in the area of the Safeway shopping center located at 1790 Decoto Rd. The officer found the described vehicle occupied by a lone female. The officer evaluated her for being intoxicated and found her to be sober, but located 1.7 grams of methamphetamine in her purse and arrested her on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine.

Drunk driver leads police on chase

Later this night, an officer on routine patrol in the area of Dyer Street and Alvarado Boulevard saw a vehicle weaving between lanes and attempted to make an enforcement stop, but the driver decided to evade the officer by speeding away up to 50 mph and running the red light at Dyer Street and Santa Susanna Way. The subject finally pulled over and was uncooperative with the officers, refusing to participate in any field sobriety tests. The subject was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol and on suspicion of obstruction of officers in their official duties.

Monday, April 2

Two arrested for vandalism after throwing rocks at parked cars

On Monday night, an officer on routine patrol in the area of the located on Alvarado Niles Road saw two subjects throwing rocks at parked vehicles in the parking lot. The officer attempted to contact the subjects, but they both ran away. Additional officers responded and eventually apprehended the subjects and arrested them on suspicion of vandalism.

Tuesday, April 3

Police investigate developmentally disabled person who checked into hospital with bruises

A patient arrived at a local medical clinic with bruises all over her body. The patient was developmentally disabled and medical staff alerted UCPD. The patient was taken to a special interviewing center to determine if the injuries were inflicted in a criminal nature. The investigations section is following up on the case.
