Police Release Suspect Descriptions in Home Invasion Robbery

According to the Union City Police Department, one of the suspects was described as a Hispanic male adult with a thin build, wearing a black ski mask and armed with a handgun. A second suspected was also described as a Hispanic male adult with a medium to heavy built, wearing a black shirt and black pants, and carrying a black handgun.

The third suspect was heard but not seen, police said. The suspect was overheard speaking what sounded like Spanish, police said.

An artist sketch of the suspects will be released within the next several days, according to Cmdr. Ben Horner.

The shooting occurred when the three suspects confronted the woman outside of her Hanford Street home at 10:17 p.m. Monday.

The suspects forced the woman back inside at gunpoint, then forced three other adult residents into the family room, police said.

At some point a fight broke out between the suspects and one of the residents. A suspect opened fire, wounding the woman.

Only the woman was struck by gunfire, but her son had been hit in the head and also required medical attention for non-life threatening injuries. The three suspects ran away, police said.

According to Horner, the woman was in surgery Thursday afternoon and her condition was not yet known.

Police are asking for the community’s help in locating the suspects and are asking anyone with video surveillance of any suspicious activity in the area to contact the police department.
