Sprouts & Shutters: Bombay Pizza to Open in Ardenwood
The Indian-style pizza joint, which was destroyed in a fire last year, is scheduled to open early May in Fremont.

It’s been six months since a devastating fire destroyed Bombay Pizza House — and nearly 10 other businesses — at a Union City strip mall.
While there’s been little to no movement on the reconstruction of the strip mall, fans of Bombay Pizza’s unique creations will be pleased to know that the restaurant is rising from the ashes on its own.

According to owner Gursewak Gill, Bombay Pizza will be opening early May at 4922 Paseo Padre Parkway in Fremont’s Ardenwood neighborhood, just a touch outside of Union City and Newark’s borders.
“It was going to take forever to rebuild. Rather than waiting, we said let’s just go ahead and find another place,” Gill told Patch.

The new location is “bigger and better,” Gill promises.
It boasts a 3,000-square-foot space — double its previous location — with enough room for 100 hungry pizza lovers, and will feature flat-screen TVs and a modern décor similar to its past incarnation. The restaurant will also air sporting events and have games for kids.
“We made it really nice inside,” Gill said.
And, of course, the menu is intact: fusion specialties such as Curry Veggie Delight, Curry Chicken Masala, Chili Paneer (Indian cheese) and Chicken Tikka Masala, along with classic offerings.
The restaurant will also serve beer and wine.
If all goes as planned, the restaurant could open as soon as May 1, Gill said.
