Here are five things going on this week that you need to know about:
- With summer here, Union City Leisure Services is offering a variety of programs for youth. Kicking off on Monday is , a weeklong workshop aimed at helping your child build confidence on the stage. Led by Pioneer Elementary School teacher James Malone and held at the James Logan Performing Arts Center, the program will help kids build their voice and acting skills through skits, games and other fun, creative devices. - Also hosted by Union City Leisure Services is their "?" program, which begins Tuesday for children ages 9 and up. The nine-week class, held Tuesday afternoons and evenings, will focus on a mix of both cheer and dance. Students will learn various cheer jumps, halftime routines, vocal exercises and more. - Join the Northern Silicon Valley Partnership as they host the third annual this Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza hotel. The free event will feature a variety of workshops, networking opportunities and services, including a free one-on-one resume critique with human resources professionals and sessions on new skills for job seekers, including how to use online networking to assist in your job search. - If laughter is the secret to long life, then Paddy's Coffee House is the place to be Thursday night for . Hosted by Molly Sokhom, the free event promises "lattes and laughs" and will be headlined by Colleen Watson.
- Join the Mighty 4 Arts Foundation as the organization celebrates 14 years of empowering communities around the world through music, art and dance and their induction into the Union City Historical Museum with . From 4 to 8 p.m. at , the free community event will feature dance performances, live music and art, along with a presentation by Union City Mayor Mark Green. Since 1998, Mighty 4 has held an annual hip-hop cultural festival in San Francisco with tours across the country. The foundation also runs afterschool arts programs at Alvarado Middle School and James Logan High School. Come celebrate their legacy!
