This Week: Coat Drive, Logan Music Showcase, Holiday Book Fair
Here's what's going down in and around Union City this week

Here are five events coming up this week that you should know about:
- Help your 3- to 5-year-old discover the joy of reading during on Tuesday, Dec. 6 from 11 a.m. to noon. The hour will also include fingerplays and stretches. No registration is required.
- Enjoy a night of food and wine tasting at on Thursday, Dec. 8. From 5 to 8 p.m., anyone who donates a new or "gently worn" coat for those in need will get to sample offerings from local restaurants, including Federicos Tapas and Wine Bar from Union City. Union City's ChiroSports USA is also an event sponsor.
- See James Logan High school's award-winning musicians and color guard in action during their on Friday, Dec. 9 at 7:30 p.m. The showcase will be held inside Logan's Center for Performing Arts and will feature the school's choir, band and color guard. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 the day of the show. Tickets may also be purchased online.
- The laughs return to Paddy's Coffee House Friday night for . From 8:30 to 10 p.m., join Bay Area favorites and up and coming comedians for the coffee shop's last comedy night of the year.
- Join two dozen Bay Area authors for the , from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10. The authors — including "French Lessons" author Ellen Sussman — will be on hand to sign their books, which range from children's books to humor, religion and romance. Books will also be given away during the event.
