Unattended Pan of Linguica Causes Fire at Extended Stay America Hotel

One hotel room occupant was transported to a hospital for unknown injuries, fire officials said.

An unattended pan of linguica frying on a stovetop was the cause of a small fire on the fourth floor of the hotel Wednesday afternoon, fire officials said.

Crews responded to the hotel, located at 31950 Dyer St. in Union Landing, at 3:56 p.m. and contained the fire within minutes. The damage was limited to the stovetop, Alameda County Fire Department spokeswoman Aisha Knowles said.

The occupant of the room was transported to a local hospital for unknown injuries, according to Knowles.
