Union City Asks Residents For Input On Housing Development Standards

A booth will be set up during the Saturday, Oct. 15, Farmer's Market at Old Alvarado Park for those looking for more information.

UNION CITY, CA — Union City officials are updating the city's multi-family housing development standards and hopes to hear from residents on how to best adjust those standards.

The city's planning division is inviting all residents to take part in a quick 15 question survey on the standards which are the rules that all new development must follow, the city said in a news release.

"They typically address the physical characteristics of buildings and site development," the news release explained, adding that the new standards would apply to "townhouses, apartment buildings and mixed use buildings."

Those completing the survey before Nov. 4 will be entered to win a $50 gift card.

"The community is encouraged to participate throughout the process, which is anticipated to take nine months to one year," the city said.
