Union City Boulevard Bike Lanes Project

Here's when construction on the 2.5 mile long bike lane is expected to be complete.

The City of Union City has contracted with Bay Cities Paving & Grading, Inc. to construct the Union City Boulevard Bike Lanes Project. The goal of this project is to provide buffered bike lanes from Smith Street to the southern city limits, approximately 2.5 miles in length. The work in general consists of reconstructing median to accommodate new bike lanes, constructing a shared use pathway, streetlight and traffic signal improvements, upgraded striping and signage, upgraded pavement surface, installing new storm drain inlets, and new landscaping.

Work on this project is expected to be completed November 2025, pending weather conditions.

Work hours will be from 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Work areas will be delineated with temporary barriers. Lane closures, traffic shifting, sidewalk and curb ramp closures, and/or detours will be in place to route travelers around work area. All travelers should exercise heighted caution around construction area. Expect delays when traveling in the vicinity of construction areas.

Please be aware of “No Parking” signs which will be placed at least 72 hours prior to any activities where street parking will be prohibited. Waste and recycling pickup will continue on the same schedule. Temporary driveway closures to accommodate roadway paving activities will be coordinated with local residents and businesses to mitigate disturbances. Note that bus stop locations are subject to change or closure during construction. The work areas will not affect emergency access routes.
