Wild West Children's Summer Carnival to be Held Friday

Community members are invited to celebrate summer with Union City Leisure Services from noon to 3 p.m. Friday at Old Alvarado-Cesar Chavez Park. All games cost 25 cents.

Take your kids back in time to the wild west at this year's Union City Leisure Services summer carnival.

Held Friday from noon to 3 p.m. at , the western-themed event will feature 32 games booths, each costing 25 cents, according to recreation supervisor Marissa Vera.

The carnival is open to the general public and all community children are invited to attend, Vera said.

Games will include "pin the tail on the sheriff," a gold rush game where children can pan for prizes and others. The event will also feature a jumper, face painting, cotton candy, Fritos banditos (Fritos chips with chili) and hot dogs for sale.

The annual event has been held for more than 20 years and draws about 300 children each year.

Union City Leisure Services will also be providing free transportation to members of their summer youth camps.
