Woman Injured in Pedestrian-Vehicle Accident on Decoto Road

Witnesses said the victim appeared to be jaywalking across the busy thoroughfare.

A woman was transported to a hospital following a pedestrian-vehicle accident on Decoto Road in front of the Union Square Marketplace Thursday evening.

The severity of her injuries are not yet known.

According to witnesses, the accident occurred around 7:40 p.m. when the woman — who appeared to be jaywalking across the busy thoroughfare with a bicycle — was struck by a male driver heading westbound in a yellow Mitsubishi.

The motorist stopped and appeared to be cooperating with investigators.

A witness said the vehicle may have been traveling at about 30 to 40 mph.

Fire engines, police and paramedics responded promptly to the scene and transported the victim to a nearby hospital.

Officers on scene were not available for comment and a call to the police department was not immediately returned.

Traffic was momentarily blocked westbound on Decoto Road at Meyers Drive.
