According to the fast food chain, which first launched its delivery service in Washington, D.C. last year, delivery is now available in seven California cities — five of which are in the Bay Area.

Aside from Union City, delivery is available in San Leandro, Oakland, Milpitas and San Ramon.

The chain says it provides special packaging to keep burgers and fries warm and crispy and cold items chilly.

According to an Associated Press report, customers must make a minimum order of at least $10 to receive delivery. Orders can be made by phone or online between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m., but delivery times and prices may vary by location.

Of course, Burger King's new mobile venture raises concerns about making high-calorie fast food even more convenient.

Dr. Kristine Madsen of UC Berkeley’s School of Health told KTVU that Burger King’s new service “exacerbates the obesity epidemic … just sort of flipping on its head what we want to do, which is make healthier foods more easily accessible.”

So, Union City: What do you think about fast food restaurants offering delivery? Will you be phoning in your next Whopper?
