End Of Summer DUI Checkpoints Planned Across The Westside

LOS ANGELES, CA — The Los Angeles Police Department is wrapping up the summer season with a blitz of DUI checkpoints and saturation patrols.

Now through the Labor Day Weekend, the LAPD will conduct almost two dozen DUI checkpoints and saturation patrols to deter intoxicated driving.

"As the summer travel season wraps up, the Los Angeles Police Department reminds drivers to stay safe and be responsible by never driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs," the police department said in a written statement. "To help keep our community safe, the LAPD will have additional officers on patrol from August 16 through Labor Day (September 4) looking for drivers suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. The additional efforts to prevent impaired driving are part of a national enforcement campaign, Driver Sober or Get Pulled Over."

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 13,384 people were killed in drunk-driving crashes in 2021 — that’s one person every 39 minutes.

The LAPD will be looking for impaired drivers in the following areas:

• DUI Saturation Patrol from 3 PM to 11 PM in Newton Area
• DUI Saturation Patrol from 4 PM to 12 AM in Hollenbeck Area
• DUI Checkpoint from 6 PM to 11 PM at Van Nuys Boulevard and Roscoe Boulevard
• DUI Checkpoint from 6 PM to 11 PM at La Brea Avenue and Oakwood Avenue
