Get Out: Patch's Pick-and-Choose Weekend Planner

Fall gardening workshop, donate or swap a Halloween costume, learn about GMO's and get rid of your hazardous waste.

Still have no idea what to do this weekend? Don't panic. Mar Vista Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check out our picks:

Where/When: Foothill Road between Alden Drive and West 3rd Street, Beverly Hills, CA,  Sat. Oct. 1, 9 a.m.

Why Go: Yes, it IS in Beverly Hills, but certainly worth the drive, to make sure you dispose of all those things you've been dying to get rid of in an environmentally-conscious way. The County of Los Angeles, the Department of Public Works and the Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County, in cooperation with the cities of Beverly Hills, Culver City, Los Angeles and West Hollywood, have combined forces so you can dispose of your brake fluid, paint, paint thinner, cleaners with acid or lye, pesticides or herbicides, household batteries and car batteries, pool chemicals, motor oil, oil filters, expired pharmaceuticals, anti-freeze, and fluorescent light bulbs, computer monitors, televisions, computer CPUs, keyboards, printers and cellular phones.
