Get Ready to Set Your Clocks Back Sunday

Daylight Saving Time 2013 is about to end.

By Rebecca McCarthy

The twice-yearly ritual of setting our timekeepers forward and backward is striking again this Sunday at 2 a.m. when daylight saving time ends. At 2 a.m., your clock should now read 1 a.m.

Daylight saving, which got its start during World War II in an effort to save resources, was then mandatory for the country and observed for an entire year. Now, daylight savings is optional for states, so, for example, if you travel from California to Arizona in the winter, you'll lose an hour.

Some studies have shown that extending daylight saving time results in a reduction in energy consumption; other studies suggest just the opposite.

What do you think? Do you like daylight savings? Does it save energy? Tell us in the comment section below.
