Key Road Linking Westside And Pacific Coast Highway Gets Funding For Repairs
A fix for one of the Westside's key thoroughfares just got a bit closer after the council OK'd the $800,000 needed to fix storm damage.

LOS ANGELES, CA — The City Council on Friday voted to fund the $800,000 needed to fix damage on Temescal Canyon Road, a key thoroughfare linking LA neighborhoods on the Westside with Pacific Coast Highway.
The council unanimously approved a motion that instruct city officials to identify funding so the Bureau of Engineering can repair and implement a mitigation plan for the Pacific Palisades road.
The move comes after months of travel woes on the thoroughfare, which is affected by a lane closure due to storm damage. A portion of Temescal Canyon Road between Pacific Coast Highway and West Bowdin Street is facing structural instability thanks to water seepage following heavy winter rain, officials said.

Councilmember Traci Park earlier this month introduced the motion after hearing concerns from Palisades residents about access to one of the few routes in and out of the neighborhood.
Pacific Palisades Community Counci Chairwoman Maryam Zar thanked Park for her efforts at Friday's meeting.

"It is one of only two, maybe three roadways that allow us to get in and out of Pacific Palisades," Zar said. "Not only is it a major road artery that we use for our daily commutes, it's also an evacuation route for us."
