Man Arrested, Accused Of Kicking Dog In Venice

Many witnesses said they watched a man kick and severely injure a dog in Venice, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

VENICE, CA — A man was behind bars Tuesday after police said he kicked a dog, which caused severe injuries to the animal, and hit a man over the head with a glass bottle when he tried to intervene.

The Los Angeles Police Department arrested 39-year-old Michael Langman on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and animal cruelty last week on June 14. Authorities said they received a call at about 3:11 p.m. regarding an animal cruelty investigation.

When officers arrives to the 800 block of Pacific Avenue, multiple witnesses pointed Langman out, stating they saw the man kick and severely injure a dog.

"Witnesses attempted to stop Langman. Langman, while attempting to flee, grabbed a glass bottle and struck a male victim on the head causing injury," LAPD said in a statement.

The victim and other witnesses were able to hold Langman and prevent him from escaping before officers arrived to arrest him. No further information about the dog's or the man's injuries was available.
