UPDATE: Man Barricaded in Mar Vista Home With Shotgun Taken Into Custody

Police have arrested a man from a home on McLaughlin Avenue in Mar Vista where he had barricaded himself in and initially had refused to surrender.

8:40 a.m. - Sgt. Gura told Patch that at approximately 8:30 a.m. the suspect was taken into custody. No one was injured in the incident.

A Mar Vista resident who was on the scene told Patch neighbors say they are concerned for the suspect whose first name is Nick. Police on the scene said they will make sure the man gets help.

8:10 a.m. A man is currently barricaded inside a home at 3967 McLaughlin Avenue in Mar Vista with a shotgun and is refusing to surrender.

Dozens of police officers have surrounded the home and blocked off McLaughlin Avenue from Washington Place to Venice Blvd. and more police are en route, Sgt. Gura of the LAPD's Pacific Division told Mar Vista Patch.

"We had an initial incident regarding a domestic violence call at 3:20 a.m." Gura said. "Just after 7 a.m. we were advised that a suspect in connection with this domestic violence call has barricaded himself in the home. He has indicated that he is armed with a shotgun and refuses to surrender."

Sgt. Gura said more police are en route.

A Mar Vista resident who is on the scene told Patch that a neighbor said the first name of the man barricaded in the home is Nick.
