Man Shot Near Venice Boardwalk; Manhunt On For Shooter

Police are looking for a shooter who wounded a man near the Venice boardwalk Thursday. It's the second shooting in the area since last week.

VENICE, CA — A 20-year-old man was shot and wounded near the Venice boardwalk Thursday evening.

The shooting occurred shortly after 9:50 p.m. in the area of Windward Avenue and Speedway, said Officer Tony Im of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Division.

Responding officers found the victim conscious and breathing suffering from a gunshot wound, Im said. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Officers from the LAPD and agencies from adjacent jurisdictions are looking for the gunman, who was described as Hispanic, about 27 years old, 5 feet 2 inches tall, 285 pounds, with short brown hair. He was seen wearing a gray hoodie and a red shirt fleeing eastbound Windward Avenue with the handgun, Im said.
