Muscle Beach Championship Monday in Venice

Competitors and gawkers are sure to be seen Monday when The Muscle Beach Championship takes to Muscle Beach in Venice. The bodybuilding competition is open to amateurs and is free to onlookers who want to watch the action.

Pre-registration takes place from 7:30-9:30 a.m. at a cost of $80 per competitor. An athlete briefing will be held at 9:30 a.m. with pre-judging beginning at 10 a.m.

Finals start at 1 p.m. and overall winners will be featured in Iron Man magazine, according to the event's Facebook page. 

Dubbed "The Greatest Outdoor Bodybuilding Show on Earth," Monday's event will include the Hall of Fame induction of Lou Ferrigno. Ferrigno will be inducted by Stan Lee, the co-creator of the Marvel comic series "The Hulk," and will join inductees Jack LaLanne, Joe Weider, Joe Gold, Rachel McLish and others.

The competition is held at the Venice Recreation Center, 1800 Ocean Front Walk, Venice.
