Open Neighborhoods’ James Brennan stated in a release, “We will be arranging a group photo at 10 a.m. for community members to participate in showing support for the market and post offfice to switch to clean energy from the sun. We'll compile the photos of hundreds of people around the world kick starting their projects and spread the message that community solar is here to stay.”

According to Open Neighborhoods most Los Angeles County residents and businesses are not able to install a solar system because they don’t own a rooftop. However, the organization notes that there “are plenty of non-profits, churches and schools with big roofs in LA county neighborhoods that are perfect for a community solar project. Solar is the fastest growing industry in America and now employs more Americans than both coal and steel.  Who wouldn't want local solar power generated in their own community?”

Neighborhood meetups will take place on Sunday throughout Los Angeles County and around the world. In nearby Venice, a meetup will be held at the Venice Post Office on Venice Boulevard at 10:30 a.m. and in Culver City a meetup will be held at the Veterans Memorial at 2 p.m.
