Today in Venice-Mar Vista: Cell Tower Site, La Fortuna Market, Mar Vista Fall Festival, Library Book Sale

Is La Fortuna Market a "public nuisance"? Weigh in at a public hearing.

Here are five things for your Wednesday and beyond in Venice-Mar Vista:  

  1. The Pacific Area Community Police Advisory Board meets Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Playa Vista Center Pointe Club, 6200 Playa Vista Drive, Playa Vista. The agenda is here.
  2. A new cell tower proposed for 101 Dudley Ave. in Venice is on the agenda of the Wednesday 6:45 p.m. of the Land Use and Planning Commission of the Venice Neighborhood Council. The meeting will be held at the Oakwood Recreation Center, 767 7th Ave. Download the agenda here.
  3. La Fortuna Market, 824 S. Lincoln Blvd., is the subject of a public hearing Thursday. Interested parties can provide comments as to whether or not the business is a public nuisance. An online document reports that the Los Angeles Police Department has responded to "calls of service" and made "arrest reports" with "allegations of drinking in public and multiple violations of existing operating conditions."   4. The Mar Vista Fall Festival takes place this Saturday at the Mar Vista Recreation Center, 11430 Woodbine St., from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The theme for the Oct. 19 event will be “Celebrating the Arts." More details here.
  5. On Saturday, the Mar Vista Branch Library's Friends of the Library Book Sale will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 12006 Venice Blvd.
