UCLA Police Report Sexual Battery in Palms

On the other side of the 405, campus police said they have had calls for increased security around University Village student housing.

A report of a sexual battery near UCLA graduate and married student housing in Palms prompted UCLA police to issue a crime alert today.

A woman told UCLA police she was walking south on Sepulveda Boulevard near Palms Boulevard about noon Tuesday when a thin, 30-something black man with an Afro hairdo grabbed her.

The culprit then ran across Sepulveda, the woman told police.

The suspect was described as about 5 feet 11 inches tall, wearing a black hoodie and sweat pants, police said. The woman is not affiliated with the university, but campus police take reports whenever crimes happen near UCLA properties.

On the other side of the San Diego (405) Freeway, campus police said they have had calls for increased security around University Village student housing, which is sandwiched between the freeway and Sawtelle Boulevard.
