Violent Venice Robbery Captured On Video

Police are asking for help finding a robber who brutally beat another man at a Venice bus stop.

VENICE, CA — Police Friday sought the public's help in identifying a man who beat and robbed another man who was sitting on a bus bench in Venice.

A witness recorded the attack, which occurred about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Main Street and Venice Way and is posted on YouTube , according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The suspect asked the victim if he had change for a $10 bill and then lunged and grabbed the man's wallet when he pulled it out, police said.

"As the victim attempted to stop the suspect, both the victim and suspect ended up on the ground," according to an LAPD statement. "The suspect began to strike the victim numerous times on his head and upper body."

The suspect, who fled on foot with the victim's wallet, was described as a man between 20 and 25 years old, between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall, and weighing between 160 and 180 pounds.

Anyone who has information about the suspect or can identify him was urged to call (310) 482-6421 to speak with LAPD robbery Detective Saucedo.
