This fundraising event originally started as a fun way to encourage folks “to move their feet before they eat” on Thanksgiving morning and has evolved into a tremendously successful and highly attended charity event. The beneficiaries of the Turkey Trot are the Walnut Creek Education Foundation, P.E.A.K. Education Foundation, Wellness City Challenge, Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano, The Rollins Family Foundation and Forma Kids Foundation. Together, the education foundations help enrich experiences for nearly 10,000 students at 12 public schools in Walnut Creek. In 2015, the Turkey Trot raised over $50,000 attracted over 7,000 runners/walkers, 200+ volunteers as well as hundreds of school supporters and spectators. Additionally, 1,000 turkeys were donated to families in need.
