Order Your Free Tree Now: Some Are Already 'Sold Out'

Households can reserve one tree while supplies last.

BAY AREA, CA— Pacific Gas and Electric Company is providing 3,000 free trees this spring to customers across its service area to help keep communities safe by planting the right tree in the right place.

The initiative, funded through PG&E’s Energy-Savings Trees program, started March 12 and is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Since Thursday afternoon, two of the trees have "sold out."

Each household can reserve up to one tree from the following options while supplies last:

  • Japanese Red Maple
  • Redbud
  • Flowering Dogwood
  • Kousa Dogwood
  • Japanese Snowbell
  • Tuliptree

To identify distribution locations for native California trees and safety tips on the best places to plant them, PG&E is partnering with Arbor Day Foundation. Customers can see if they are eligible by going online to Arborday.org/pge and inserting their address.

Trees will be delivered to the customer's address six weeks after the order date.

PG&E’s “Right Tree, Right Place” resources provide guidelines on tree planting to ensure they are a safe distance from overhead or underground electric or gas lines.
