8 Arrested In Walnut Creek Crackdown On Retail Theft
Organized retail crime task force members with the CHP and the state's Department of Justice joined Walnut Creek police for the operation.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — The Walnut Creek Police Department hosted organized retail crime task force members with the California Highway Patrol Golden Gate Division and the California Department of Justice for a recent crackdown in the city's downtown area.
The retail theft suppression operation took place Saturday, Dec. 7, at several downtown businesses. As a result, eight people were arrested, including one person who had a stolen gun.
Those listed below were booked into the Contra Costa County jail in Martinez:

- Gerardo Cacho, 21, of Stockton
- Bryan Escobar Cortez, 21, of Stockton
- Tommie Lewis, 23, of Rodeo
Five juveniles were among those arrested. Their names were not disclosed because of their age.
In November, 16 people — including two residents of Walnut Creek —were arrested in a similar crime suppression detail in downtown Walnut Creek.

"We look forward to continuing these types of operations to show criminals they are not welcome in Walnut Creek," police said.
